Author's Note
This year, I want to finish this short novel that I worked on in 2022. After I finished my first draft, I abandoned this- and ended up working on different drafts for Birth by Memory that take place a little bit further in the future.
Late 2024, I commissioned a book cover, and I attempted to work on this story a second time, but I ended up abandoning it again. If I leave this unfinished, I imagine I'm not going to get anywhere with the story I'm actually trying to tell with Birth by Memory, and Heather's future daughter, Naori.
It's now 2026. I published one book last year, I can do so again.
I'm likely going to cut a few of the side plots I originally worked on. One of the most significant losses will be the drawn/descriptive lore intermissions. Untitled Comic takes precedence this year, and I can't prioritize drawing anything for this book until I've finalized all the extra content for Swallow Pines: One-shot.
In their place, and the rest of the intermissions I had intended to work on, I'll add commentary to each chapter. This will include some artwork that I drew at an early point in the stories development.
Because this is a Non-Canon story in the timeline, I won't be placing much weight on the lore contributed by this book as the first draft was written at an early point of the series development. What I will say, is that if this book is considered a "What-If" in the timeline, then much of what happens here is very much plausible within the stories universe.
