Author's Note

Released on September 12, 2025.

In 2019, a roleplay campaign involving Spencer and a killer in the woods ended prematurely as the host stopped working on the story. The last thing I remember was Spencer jumping out a window from a 2 story cabin to escape the killer shortly after blocking the cabin door with a bookcase.

I decided to rework what happened with new original characters and an entirely different world and POV, so that this time there's some closure to his arc. A lot of the story is now less horror related and more political/sexually explicit.

Hopefully I'm able to upload this short story and meet the requirements for a Goodreads profile. I'm releasing it in parts, as if I don't I probably might end up rewriting the entire thing- so this forces me to commit to whatever ends up here.

Scope creep is already coming up on me, so, we'll see what ends up on this page or if this project get's abandoned. Thanks for reading ^-^

1880s The earliest iterations of "Good Conduct Credits" begin. In this time, human experimentation becomes more prevalent following the global interest in eugenics. Prisoners receive generous amounts of time off their sentence in exchange for involuntary experimentation. Decades later, after eugenics is outlawed, human experimentation continues freely.
1963 JFK does not get shot, as Lee Harvey Oswald's gun malfunctions. He goes on to establish Universal Healthcare following coordination with Europe in his second term. JFK is credited additionally in his second term for the shift of America being a military superpower to a medicine superpower.
1970s Human Experimentation in prisons becomes voluntary. Prisons begin to work more closely with the media, lionizing the bravery of prisoners. A special league in boxing is given to prisons, allowing some to compete in life or death matches. Credits are granted under the guise of 'research' on how the human body performs in such conditions.
1972 Okinawa Island remains a territory of the US and becomes the 51st State of America. Over the next two decades it loses all of it's native trees to lumber trade.
2000s With the prison and domestic population of America dropping each decade, some doctors begin working overseas in the global south to capitalize on human experimentation without the "Good Credit Model".
